Todos Tus Muertos, the Argentinian band formed in 1985, came back live in Berlin last July 27th, in the new formation with Fidel Nadal back in vocals.
Thirty-two years have gone since Todos Tus Muertos started in the underground scene of punk rock in the capital of Argentina. The band that stopped playing for a brief period of time in 2000, is back since 2016 with Fidel Nadal, Félix Gutiérrez on bass, Pablo Molina in vocals and Germán Álvarez, Damián Dominguez and Ricardo Sanguinetti.
The venue for their full come back in Germany, was Lido Berlin, in the Kreuzberg. Despite the forecasting of a heavy storm, hundreds of fans from Latin America, and some locals brought by curiosity stood at the curb hours prior the concert, drinking, singing and laughing.
Around 10 PM, Martín Capatinta, director of Deputamadre Club and the Lakino Film Fest, appeared with exultation before the audience announcing the band, the crowd was restless. Finally, Gutiérrez, Álvarez, Domínguez, and Sanguinetti, entered to the stage. Each one of them checked briefly their instruments, and then, it began. Todos Tus Muertos with an instrumental set was playing live, hard, and loud.
It only got louder when Pablo Molina and Fidel Nada -whose return after sixteen-years did not go unnoticed- entered from each side of the stage, jumping, singing, and leading the heavy mass in the mosh-pit.
“Gente que no”, “Mandela”, “Se que no” and “Todo lo daría”, people were out of their minds, moshing, singing, smiling as you would not see that easily in every other concert back in Latin America.
A dim highlight, was the merge of the locals with the Latin Americans at the mosh-pit. A young German was eager to participate but lacked the timing and carelessness for it at the beginning. Time went by, song-after-song as he became one with the mass.
After an hour or so, Todos Tus Muertos improvised a Jam, with Fidel Nadal directing every member as an orchestra-conductor, ordering to keep playing, stop, turn down the volume, and so on. He wanted it to be perfect for his rapped-acquittal, facing those who accused him of leaving the band for several feuds with the others. He vented all and hard. For how long has he kept this inside?
Fidel Nadal kept asking in English, “Do you want one more?”, after each song. Can’t tell how many times he asked and how many everyone responded with a solid “Yes!”, but there were many. As many I can remember. Todos Tus Muertos played in Berlin and they weren’t alone.
