Spanish artist, and Berlin resident, María Amparo Gomar Vidal, presents the video installation, Me llamo María this Friday 04, at St Marien Kirche in Kreuzberg.
Me llamo María, My name is Maria, goes about 4 women artists living in Berlin and their experience related to their name, family, tradition, and faith.
On the occasion of Maria’s 33 years of age, symbolic Christian age, the artist presents a work in the space of the church St.-Marien-Liebfrauen-Kirche Berlin. This video installation shows interviews with women artists living in Berlin from Spain, Italy, and Romania, which name is Maria. The starting point of the interviews is a dialog with topics such as identity, gender, religion, art and the current situation in Berlin.

(1983 Valencia, Spain) lives and works in Berlin
Maria’s work deals with Marian beliefs and their religious influence in relation to the role of women in the Catholic society.
She studied painting at the facultad de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia (Spain) und M.A. Art in Context at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Her works have been exhibited site-specific mostly churches.
2015 – Master Art in Context at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
2011 – Continuing Education Program at the School of Visual Arts, New York.
2009 – Fine Arts degree at the Facultad de Bellas Artes de San Carlos, Valencia.
